Microblading…The More You Know.

When I first started in the permanent makeup/cosmetic tattooing industry over 5 years ago, all I did was microblading…on every client. Slowly over the last few years, I have trained in different brow techniques including Combination Brows, Ombre Powder Brows, and Nano Brows. Gone are the days of only offering one service and thinking it was the best for everyone.

Microblading still seems to be the “catch-all” phrase when it comes to tattooing and is all we really hear when clients contact us, post on social media, or come in for consults.

Specifically, microblading is a cosmetic tattooing technique that involves a manual tool that is compromised of a series of needles in the artist’s preferred shape (curved, u-blade). The microblade tool is dipped in pigment and then a stroke is created into the client's skin. Microblading basically cuts the skin and deposits the pigment into the channel created by the cut.

As an artist that created their career using the microblading technique, it is no longer our studio or artists’ preferred technique for many reasons. While microblading is beautiful and can create a natural look, it is NOT for everyone.

We call clients that can get “Unicorn Clients”, as there are very specific qualifications we require in order for us to perform microblading.

In order for our studio to consider you a good candidate for microblading, you need to have the following:

  • Normal to Dry Skin

  • Fine but dense hair structure

  • Under 35

  • No Skin or Medication Contraindications. (If you are not sure about this check out our FAQs HERE)

Again, we don’t hate microblading, it just isn’t for everyone and we pride ourselves on giving our clients all the information on each technique we offer and what is best suited for them.

xoxo, jen
